Description
Overview
At 505 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated light to moderate rain continues across the warned area. Between 1.25 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impacts
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mainly rural areas of Southern McKinley County. Flash flooding can be expected along Highway 36, Knife Hill Canyon Road and Indian Reservation Road 9. Elevated water flows are also expected in the Rio Pescado.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
