National Weather Service: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for this area until 8:45 PM MST. This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Description

Overview

At 610 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Casas Adobes, Drexel Heights, Flowing Wells, Pascua Pueblo Yaqui Reservation, Tortolita, Tucson Mountain Park, Saguaro National Park West, Tucson Estates, Valencia West, Catalina Foothills, Picture Rocks, Ryan AirField and Dove Mountain. This includes the following highways... Route 86 between mile markers 160 and 170. Route 77 between mile markers 70 and 76. Interstate 10 between mile markers 240 and 258. This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations... 1st Ave north of Fort Lowell Rd, Stone Ave at Mabel St, Silverbell Rd near Ina Rd, Camino De La Tierra at the Rillito River, Camino de Oeste from Sweetwater to Gates Pass, Ironwood Hills Dr from Shannon to Camino de Oeste, Mark Rd from Jeffery Rd to Los Reales Rd, Overton Rd at Canada del Oro, Sunset Rd west of Camino de Oeste and Black Wash at S Camino de Oeste.

Instructions

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
