Description
A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Coastal waters from Freeport to Matagorda Ship Channel TX out 20 NM... Coastal waters from High Island to Freeport TX out 20 NM... Galveston Bay... Matagorda Bay... Waters from Freeport to Matagorda Ship Channel TX from 20 to 60 NM... Waters from High Island to Freeport TX from 20 to 60 NM... At 458 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots, with brief locally higher gusts around 35 knots. This thunderstorm was located near Surfside Jetty, moving southwest at 30 knots.
Instructions
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Brief locally higher gusts up to around 35 knots are possible. Intense lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
