Overview

At 1228 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from 12 miles south of Magdalena to 12 miles east of San Antonio, moving north at 55 mph.

Hazard

Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half inch size hail.

Impacts

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Socorro, Magdalena, Lemitar, Escondida, San Acacia, La Joya, Bernardo, Veguita, Chamizal and Luis Lopez. This includes the following highways... Highway 380 near Mile Marker 8...and between Mile Markers 10 and 28. Highway 60 between Mile Markers 107 and 191. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 141 and 184.

Instructions

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.
