Southwestern Iredell County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... * Until 415 PM EDT. * At 331 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles northeast of Newton, or over Lookout Shoals Lake, moving southwest at 25 mph.

Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now!
