What
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
Where
Chena River Basin from Moose Creek Dam to the end of Chena Hot Springs Road.
When
Until 1000 PM AKDT Sunday.
Impacts
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River and stream flows remain elevated. Ponding of water in areas is occurring or is imminent.
Additional details
- At 412 AM AKDT, gage reports indicated widespread moderate to heavy rain across the Chena River Basin over the past several days. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain has fallen this week. - High water levels will continue to work through the Fairbanks, Badger, and North Pole region along the Chena and Little Chena Rivers. Use extra caution on and along the rivers as water levels continue to run at near record to record levels for this time of year. The Chena River near Two Rivers is dropping but remains bankfull. The Chena River below Hunts Creek is dropping but remains bankfull. The Chena River below Moose Creek Dam is cresting. The Chena River at Fairbanks will be cresting Saturday afternoon. We are expecting rivers to remain high through the weekend but gradually drop towards more normal levels through the week. - For Chena River below Hunts Creek near Two Rivers : At 4:00am the stage was 15.7 feet. Flood Stage is 17.2 feet. Forecast: A crest around 15.3 feet is expected at 10:00am Saturday. For Chena River below Moose Creek dam: At 4:00am the stage was 24.8 feet. Flood Stage is 24.5 feet. Forecast: A crest around 24.8 feet is expected at 10:00am Saturday. For Chena River near Two Rivers: At 3:00am the stage was 19.4 feet. Flood Stage is 19.5 feet. Forecast: A crest around 19.1 feet is expected at 10:00am Saturday. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc
