Description

Overview

At 303 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Splash Adventure to near Helena. Movement was south at 10 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Impacts

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Alabaster, Bessemer, Helena, Splash Adventure, Maylene, McCalla, Siluria, Promenade Tannehill, Bessemer Airport, Lake Cyrus, Bent Brook Golf Club, and McAdory. This includes the following highways... Interstate 459 between mile markers 1 and 8. Interstate 59 between mile markers 105 and 111.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
