Description

Overview

At 816 PM MDT/916 PM CDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles south of Leoti, moving southeast at 30 mph.

Hazard

Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

Emergency manager reported golf ball sized hail 1 mile east of Selkirk.

Impacts

People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Leoti, Lydia, Selkirk, and Marienthal.

Instructions

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This thunderstorm is producing accumulating hail, which will make driving hazardous, similar to snow or ice. If you must travel, be aware of rapidly changing road conditions. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
