Overview

At 123 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Wichita, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Hazard

60 mph wind gusts.

Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Wichita, Derby, Andover, Haysville, Park City, Valley Center, Bel Aire, Maize, Downtown Wichita, Kechi, Eastborough, West Wichita, East Wichita, Eisenhower National Airport, Northeast Wichita, Mcconnell Air Force Base, South Wichita, Oaklawn, and Jabara Airport. This includes the following highways... Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 0 and 16. Interstate 35 between Mile Markers 38 and 54.

Instructions

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
