Description
SMWAFC The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a * Special Marine Warning for... Gravel Point to Cape Cleare out to 15 NM... Southwest Prince William Sound... * Until 115 AM AKDT. * At 1245 AM AKDT, Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts, winds 34 knots or greater, and small hail. This storm was located 20 nm south-southeast of Hinchinbrook Entrance , moving west at 25 knots.
Instructions
Mariners can expect gusty winds, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rains. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor immediately. Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
