Impacts
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
Additional details
- At 900 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.8 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rounds of light rain showers will continue to be possible. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 109 and 148. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 8...and between mile markers 10 and 46. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
