Description

Overview

Showers continue over southeast Montana and northern Wyoming today. A few thunderstorms may develop as well. The risk of flooding continues.

What

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible, along with flash flooding over recent burn scars.

Where

Southeast Montana and Sheridan County Wyoming.

When

Until 6 PM MDT this evening.

Impacts

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. The risk of flooding will diminish late this afternoon and evening as showers taper off.

Additional details

- The heaviest rainfall is slowly shifting eastward to southeast Montana and northeast Wyoming. - The Elk and McGhee-Remington burn scars are particularly vulnerable to flash flooding and debris flows. Any other burn scars from this summer will have elevated flash flood potential as well. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
