Overview

At 250 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Payne Gap, or 9 miles east of Whitesburg, moving east at 15 mph.

Hazard

Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

Impacts

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Jenkins, Neon Junction, Fishpond Lake, Burdine, Potters Fork, Payne Gap, Gaskill, Whitaker, Dunham, Haymond, Tolliver Town, Wright, and Cromona. THIS INCLUDES U.S. Highway 23 in Lethcher County between mile markers 1 and 4.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in JACKSON KY.
