Description
What
Northeast winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and very rough waters expected.
Where
Albemarle, Croatan, and Roanoke Sounds and the Alligator River.
When
From 7 AM Wednesday to 8 AM EDT Friday.
Impacts
Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
Additional details
A strong coastal low will develop offshore east of North Carolina by Wednesday, then move north towards the coast of New England by the end of the week. This low is expected to produce an extended period of hazardous marine conditions for much of the ENC waters.
Instructions
Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions.
