Description

Overview

At 650 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from near Wilsonville to 8 miles southwest of Talladega National Forest, or extending from near Wilsonville to 12 miles southeast of Brent, moving south at 15 mph.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Impacts

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Calera, Columbiana, Jemison, Wilsonville, Talladega Springs, Thorsby, Maplesville, Chilton County Motor Sports Park, Ashby, Lawley, Talladega National Forest, Lay Lake, Marble Valley, Fayetteville, Shelby, Randolph, Minooka Park, Lomax and Isabella. This includes the following highways... US Highway 82 between mile markers 89 and 106. Interstate 65 between mile markers 213 and 231.

Instructions

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
