Description
Overview
At 1239 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Impacts
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Village, Chimney Rock State Park, Bat Cave and Gerton. Flood stage is currently 6.22 feet at the Rocky Broad River near Bat Cave. Water will start to approach campgrounds along the Rocky Broad River in the Chimney Rock/Hickory Grove areas.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
