Impacts
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry washes.
Additional details
- At 343 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Nogales, Rio Rico, Patagonia, Nogales International Airport, Patagonia Lake State Park and Kino Springs. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 19 between mile markers 1 and 10. Route 82 between mile markers 1 and 21. This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations... Nogales Wash at Doe St Bridge and Pendleton Dr at Sonoita Creek. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
