Impacts
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Additional details
- At 916 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen from this latest round of storms. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will allow minor flooding to persist or worsen. Portions of this area experienced heavy rainfall and flash flooding from storms earlier this afternoon. Those areas may be particularly sensitive to additional rainfall. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Harlan, Loyall, Evarts, Sunshine, Elcomb, Tway, Teetersville, Baxter, Harlan Gas, Clovertown, White Star, Kitts, Grays Knob, Golden Ash, Mary Alice, Chevrolet, Rosspoint, Tremont and Coxton. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
