Overview

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Illinois... Des Plaines River near Gurnee affecting Lake IL County. Des Plaines River near Russell affecting Lake IL County.

What

Moderate flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

Where

Des Plaines River from IL/WI state line downstream to US-41 in Gurnee, including the Russell gauge.

When

Until further notice.

Impacts

At 9.5 feet, Residential structures threatened along Russell Road between the river and Kilbourne Road. Industrial parking lots threatened along Kilbourne Road.

Additional details

- At 7:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 9.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 PM CDT Thursday was 9.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to continue a gradual fall through next week, potentially falling below flood stage midweek. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions

A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued by Friday afternoon.
