FFWEPZ The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Central Otero County in south central New Mexico... * Until 730 AM MDT. * At 130 AM MDT, Moderate to heavy rainfall falling over highly saturated ground in the eastern Sacramento Mountains will lead to considerable flooding in area streams overnight. Impacts will be worse the further downstream, or east you go, as runoff builds up.

Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, roads, and low water crossings. Washouts and stream bank erosion are likely. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sacramento, Mayhill, Weed, Sixteen Springs, James Canyon, Cox Canyon and Hay Canyon. Impacted streams include, but are not limited to... Rio Penasco, Agua Chiquita Creek, Bluewater Creek, Dry Burnt Canyon, Elk Canyon, Lower Portions of Hay Canyon, Cox Canyon, and James Canyon.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
