Overview

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Florida... St Johns River Near Deland affecting Volusia and Lake Counties. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Florida... St Johns River Near Astor affecting Volusia and Lake Counties. .Persistent northeast winds and downstream tidal effects on the St John River are slowing flow at Astor, which is also impacting river levels upstream near Deland. For the St. Johns River...including Deland, Astor...Minor to Moderate flooding is forecast.

Impacts

At 3.5 feet, Canals have overflowed into yards. Homes on or near Wildhog, Bonnet and Snail roads become inaccessible with several inches of water inside homes along the river and canals. Docks at Astor Bridge marina and throughout Astor are completely submerged. Bartram Rd and Holiday Circle are inaccessible with yards completely submerged. Clair Street is inaccessible. Roads flooded in South Moon Fish Camp, docks and yards at condominiums on Juno Trail and water breaches the sea wall at Blair's Jungle Den.

- At 8:30 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 3.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 2.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 PM EDT Thursday was 3.8 feet. - Forecast...At Astor, river levels are forecast to slowly decline but remain in Moderate Flood Stage for at least the next couple weeks. Additional rises are possible as onshore winds periodically increase and slow river flow. - Flood stage is 2.3 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued Friday afternoon at noon EDT.
